Young Adult Services
The Ashley model of treatment incorporates 12 Step program approaches and accepted therapeutic techniques. Our Young Adult Track is incorporated into this framework, thus providing tailored, effective treatment for young adults aged 18 – 25 years old. In addition to the 12 Step recovery model, motivational enhancement, cognitive behavioral therapy, and life/recovery skills training play a large role.
Young adults participate in Ashley's general treatment and gender-responsive programming as well as certain workshops and educational sessions geared toward the issues that are unique to young adults. These sessions consist of topics and experiential presentations designed for young adults. These groups are conducted in an open and informal atmosphere that encourages sharing between our young adult patients and treatment staff.
Young adults participate in separate breakout groups in addition to the educational sessions with the full community. Ashley’s approach acknowledges that all patients learn from one another, so we provide an experience that allows patient interaction with the entire community as well as specialized therapy and discussions with their age-group.
Young adults, like all patients, receive personalized continuing care plans to prepare for maintaining recovery after leaving Ashley. Proper placement is assessed based on a variety of factors, and appropriate extended living arrangements, group meetings and private counseling are often recommended.
